Emulating Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a fundamental aspect of exhibiting reverence towards him. This practice stems from a logical consequence of believing in Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the Messenger of Allah. Faith in the Messenger entails a heartfelt conviction that Allah has chosen certain individuals to convey His revelations to humankind.

To truly emulate Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in daily life, one must begin by understanding his traits and behaviors. The Quran and Sunnah/Hadith serve as primary sources of Islamic teachings, providing comprehensive insights into the personality and actions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). By incorporating these invaluable sources into our conduct, we genuinely embody the principles reflected in the life of the Prophet.

Introduction

Reverence towards Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a logical extension of reverence towards Allah. Both the Messenger and other prophets are divine emissaries conveying Allah’s messages to humanity. Throughout history, revelations have been entrusted to these messengers from Prophet Adam (AS) to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

As the final prophet, Muhammad possesses unique distinctions compared to his predecessors. One of his key contributions is that his message extends beyond specific nations, encompassing all of humanity (rahmatan lil’alamin). All human beings from his time until the Day of Judgment are obliged to adhere to the Sharia brought forth by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

As the last prophet, Muhammad was endowed with the Quran, the most comprehensive scripture containing the essence of all previous revelations. With the guidance from both the Quran and his own Sunnah/Hadith, he effectively addressed all challenges he faced. Every action and belief exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) aligns perfectly with the teachings of the Quran. Thus, all Muslims are required to emulate him in every aspect of their daily lives.

Exhibiting respect toward Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forms one of the pillars of faith in Islam. There are various ways to honor him, including expressing love and esteem, obedience, and sending blessings upon him. However, the most crucial aspect is emulating him in everyday conduct.

Belief in Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Believing in the Messenger is characterized by a complete and unwavering conviction that Allah has selected certain individuals as His messengers to relay His revelations to mankind. This belief also encompasses full acceptance of all narratives regarding every prophet sent by Allah, whether their names are known or not.

The command to believe in Allah's Messenger (Muhammad PBUH) is articulated in the Quran, Surah Al-Nisa (4), Verse 136:

“O you who believe! Believe in Allah and His Messenger and in the Scripture which He has sent down to His Messenger and in the Scripture which He sent down before. And whoever disbelieves in Allah, His angels, His Books, His messengers, and the Last Day has certainly gone far astray.” (QS. Al-Nisa (4): 136).
